Carne Viva

Carne Viva is a series of oil paintings in which the female body is embedded within representations of food. Flesh, skin, and bodily forms are partially concealed within desserts, creating images in which the body appears hidden in plain sight. The series uses visual overlap and substitution to reference consumption, pleasure, and desire, while pointing to the ways in which the female body has been historically treated as an object of consumption within patriarchal and capitalist systems.
